- Akitakomachi is popular Japanese rice which is smaller a little than other rice. Compared with Koshihikari, also popular Japanese rice, Akitakomachi has light flavour, is glossy and less sticky. Even if cooled, the taste remains good same as other Japanese rice. Main producing area is Akita prefecture in Nothern Japan, so that the name Akitakomachi is derived from Onono Komachi, a famous poet in Akita.
